6 RECORDS THAT YOU WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

1.    Manchester United 81 crosses
This is insane to believe. However, in 2014/2015 season at Old Trafford Manchester United had 81 crosses in a single premier league Match against Fulham. Amazing fact is that only 18 crosses found a united player with the match ending 2-2 thanks to Darren Bent 90+3 equalizer.

2.    Olivier Giroud 0 Shots on Target
In 2018 world Cup, France’s main Striker Olivier Giroud ended the tournament with 0 shots on target. The amazing thing is that Giroud started in 7 matches in that tournament with his nation being crowned the champions.

3.    Jose Mourinho’s home unbeaten Record
Former Chelsea and Inter Milan Manager, Jose Mourinho went for 9 years unbeaten in domestic leagues from 2003 to 2011. Mourinho managed 4 different clubs in different domestic league; FC Porto, Chelsea FC, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

4.    Manchester United Home legacy

Manchester United has had some frightening moments recently but they have a home winning legacy. The premier League Giants have never lost a home match while leading at half time. The red devils have played 279 times winning 263 and drawing 16 times only.
5.    Chelsea conceded 15 goals
Under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, Chelsea conceded only 15 goals in 2004/2005 season! This was Jose Mourinho’s first season in the English football with new Petr Cech in between Chelsea’s goal Post. Remember in the same league other teams like Manchester city have scored over 5 goals in a single match.

6.    Ronaldo and Ibrahimović scoring record
One is regarded as the most arrogant footballer of all time while the other one is arguably the greatest player of all time. However, the two beasts share a particular Record. THEY HAVE SCORED IN EVERY MINUTE OF FOOTBALL MATCH; 1-90.

Champions League Final postponed

European Union of Football Association(UEFA) has postponed this years  tournaments finals. The finals were set to take place in May this year but following the outbreak of Corona Virus the tournament had to be pushed forward with the specific details yet to be announced.

Laliga Posponed till Further Notice

The Spanish soccer calendar has been postponed until further notice, La Liga and the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) said in a joint statement on Monday.

All organised soccer in Spain had been postponed for two weeks due to the spread of the coronavirus but was initially due to resume on April 3.

The statement said a joint commission between the two bodies had agreed to postpone all professional soccer competitions until the Spanish government considered they could start again “without creating any health risk”.

RFEF chief Luis Rubiales last week ruled out cancelling the current season, insisting the campaign would resume once the health crisis was under control.

FKF and the Adel Amrouche

Effective March 24, 2020, another countdown begun towards yet another deadline to pay former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche his Sh. 109 million, that Football Kenya Federation (FKF) owes him.
This follows the directive by world football governing body FIFA, whose Disciplinary Committee granted FKF more 30 days to clear the debt, failure to which sanctions not limited to ban from participating in 2021 World Cup qualifiers could be declared against Kenya.
Regrettably, the justifiably beleaguered federation with issues ranging from debts to twice cancelled elections, FIFA has increased the penalty with Sh. 4 million pegged on the committee’s meetings in the arbitration process.
This, poignantly, is as a result to failure to meet the initially set deadline of March 11, 2020, which was arrived at following FKF’s request for an extension of the window to pay from yet another failed ultimatum.
In the conversation of the deadlines not met, FKF president Nick Mwendwa has been clear the federation has no money to pay Amrouche, pleading with the Government through Ministry of Sports to settle the penalty which he insists is part of the many inherited woes from the former regime.
“We now have up to April 23 to pay, failure to which we are out of Qatar 2021 World Cup. I have said we would not want our players to lose out on such an opportunity because of 100 million. I have therefore once again requested the Government to pay because we don’t have any other source.
The grants we get from FIFA cannot be diverted here, they (FIFA) can’t allow to be used for this kind of a debt…” told Mwendwa.
He says, although the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amb. Amina Mohammed recently said the Government was not to pay Amrouche, the federation has nowhere else to turn to.
“Nyamweya and his team brought us to this. I have gone to CAS for four years trying to challenge the awarding of such a big amount. Now it has come a time we must move forward. That’s why I have requested CS Amina to take this to the President (Uhuru Kenyatta) as we will have to handle this once and for all. The question I would gladly answer is what measures have we put in place to ensure we are not in such a situation in future. Importantly, we are not going to have coaches with closed contracts so that if terminated for a reason they seek compensation,” averred Mwendwa, pointing out all the coaches hired and left in his tenure are at peace with the federation.
Stanley Okumbi, Belgian Paul Putt and Frenchman Sebastien Migne have all worked for Stars under Mwendwa, with none staying to the expiry of their contracts.
So where exactly did the rain start beating the federation as far as the coaches debts are concerned?
September 2019, CAS ruled on the matter, awarding the Algerian-born Belgian Sh.108,194,863 in compensation for wrongful dismissal. FKF had basically lost the case. CAS in addition directed FKF to pay a further Sh.1,181,511, bringing the whole amount to a total of 109,376,374.
On February 28, this year, FIFA Disciplinary Committee writes to FKF instructing them to pay the amount owed to Amrouche or risk sanctions, as nothing had been paid yet. FKF requested FIFA for more time to settle the payment on March 3, and were granted six days two days later to clear the penalty.
With FKF still unable to pay and having sought more extension, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee directs on Tuesday gave the one month directive.
The above sequence of events notwithstanding, Nyamweya insists he is not responsible for the current afflictions engulfing FKF.
“We are not responsible. My office was not responsible. Nick Mwendwa should be sued, he should personally pay Amrouche from his pocket,” stated Nyamweya, who is also challenging for a comeback into the federation.
Amrouche is now the head coach of Botswana national football team, and is on record saying he wants his one off payment, and in full.

TOP 5 FLOPS OF THE SEASON

During the summer transfer window, we experienced many European clubs making high money moves in order to strengthen their squads. However, not all the summer signings have made it to the standards and expectations of their fans. In todays episode lets look at the top 5 summer signings who have flopped this season.

5. Tanguy Ndombele
After finishing as the runners up of the UEFA champions league last season, Tottenham Hotspurs opted to strengthen their midfield by signing French defensive midfielder to help the non-dependable Eric Dier and departed Victor Wanyama. Ndombele immediately became the clubs most expensive signing valued at $64M. However, ndombele hasn’t leaved to expectations as he has recorded 1.5 tackles per game compared to 2.5 expected and 0.8 Key passes compared to last seasons 2.1 per 90 minutes. As a reason Ndombele, has lost his spot in the Tottenham Hotspurs starting IX to English central Midfielder Harry Winks.

4. Antoine Griezmann
The veteran Attacking midfielder who has the ability to plays any role in the frontline left Atletico Madrid to replace Phillipe Coutinho and Neymar in the Braugranas starting IX. Griezmann attacking prowess in Atletico Madrid was expecting to be moon fire when he gets to the dominating football of Barcelona compared to the Defensive football played by Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.  Griezmann’s lack of activity led to Barcelona signing a player in mid-February, Martin Braithwaite from Leganes. So far, the French forward has 8 goals in laliga and only 2 in the Champions league this season.

3. Nicolas Pepe
Pace, fox in the box, freekick specialist and above all creative all-round winger. Nicolas pepe was tamed to be the New Mohammed Salah in the English premier league. Arsenal paid 70M in order to acquire the services of the left footed winger from Lille in the 2019 summer transfer window. Pepe serviced French lique one last season with 22 goals and 11 assist last season. However, things haven’t worked to the favor of the Young Ivorian after recording 4 goals so far and 6 assists with one of the goals coming from the penalty spot.

2. Joao Felix
Tipped to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor at the Portuguese National Team, Joao Felix made a huge money move of $130 in the summer from Benfica to Atletico Madrid. Felix technical abilities were expected to be of high demand to even replace Atletico Madrid’s Top Scorer, Antoine Griezmann. However, the 20 years old has only registered 4 goals and 1 Assist in 20 matches this season compared to last seasons 15 goals and 7 assists in 26 matches.

1. Eden Hazard
Chelsea’s top scorer in the last two seasons, Eden Hazard saw his time at Stamford bridge end in style after winning UEFA Europa league final against bitter rivals Arsenal last season. Real Madrid were long term admires of the veteran winger and as a result they decide to cheque out $100M in order to get the services of the Belgian Winger. However, unlike others, Hazards success at real Madrid has been handed by day in day out injuries he has acquired since joining the los Blanco’s. Hazard has only featured 10 times and registered only a single goal and one Assist compared to 15 and 16 last seasons at Real Madrid.
That’s todays list even though there are several players who didn’t make moves this season and have also disappointed like Paul Pogba and David De Gea of Manchester United, Napoli’s Captain Lorenzo Insgne, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and even Real Madrid’s Luca Jovicic.
